 Program Description
The Neurological Surgery Residency Program provides the resident with many educational opportunities including ethics curriculum/consultation, structured curriculum on end-of life care, and education components on malpractice, jurisprudence, and/or risk management and education on physician-patient communication skills.
The residency consists of a five-year program after internship. The residency focuses on patient management with emphasis on the diagnostic work-up, surgical management and post-op care of both the trauma patient as well as elective cases. There is exposure to a wide array of patients including traumas, brain tumors, aneurysms, and a multitude of spinal surgeries, consisting of microsurgery and spinal-instrumentation and fusion involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions.
