Upcoming EventsHits & Mitts” Boxing Class – Mondays and Wednesdays, Ongoing KMC Foundation Annual Golf Outing – Monday, July 19 Kettering Medical Center Foundation is hosting its 20th Annual Golf Outing at Moraine Country Club on July 19. Since its inception, over $900,000 has been raised to provide free prostate screenings for under-served and under-insured men in the region. In addition, funds have benefited medical and patient programs for Kettering Medical Center including childbirth education programs and Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center. Golf registrations include all fees, continental breakfast (if golfing in the morning), a buffet lunch and a sumptuous reception. Come enjoy a fun-filled day and take the opportunity to participate in a shoot-out for a fabulous prize, awards for the first, second and third place teams, closest to the pin and longest drive. In addition, raffle tickets are for sale for an opportunity to attend the 22nd Heart to Heart Gala on September 21, 2010, featuring dinner, concert tickets and backstage passes to meet our entertainer, Diana Ross. Arthritis Expo – July 25 Stop by the Arthritis Expo on July 25 to get the latest education and resources for preventing and managing arthritis pain. This free community event at Yankee Medical Center is presented by the Arthritis Foundation, Southview Medical Center and Orthopedic Associates of Southwest Ohio. Classic Car Show – Sunday, August 8 A car show and a raffle will be held at Dayton Dragons’ Fifth Third Field on August 8, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. to benefit Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center. Raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the car show including: Dragons prize packs, a plasma TV, an iPod, a digital camera and more. Raffle tickets are: one ticket for $1; six tickets for $5; 15 tickets for $10. Tickets are on sale at all KH Network Credit Union locations and the Marketing Department at the ASB. Winners will be announced on the plaza before the game. Employee Picnic at Moraine Farm – August 29 & 30 Mark your calendar now for a day of fun at the historic Moraine Farm in Kettering. Heart to Heart Featuring Diana Ross – Tuesday, September 21 The one and only Diana Ross is coming to Dayton September 21, at 8:30 p.m. at the Schuster Center for Performing Arts. She is the featured performer for the KMC Foundation’s Annual Heart to Heart Gala. Tickets are still available at www.ticketcenterstage.com. This popular annual event raises funds to benefit the Kettering Medical Center Cardiac Services Program, and more than $3.5 million has been raised over the years, featuring such performers as Tony Bennett, Olivia Newton-John, Willie Nelson, Michael McDonald and Carole King. KHN Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk – October 16 This walk is the American Cancer Society’s premier event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. The walk is held at Dayton Dragons’ Fifth Third Field with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk beginning at 10 a.m. KHN is currently looking for team captains and anyone who would just like to help support the event. All members of walking teams receive a Making Strides t-shirt and a mini-bag for participating. GMH Circle of Victory Walk for Cancer – October 17 For the 16th year the Greene Foundation will host the Circle of Victory Cancer Walk. This annual event raises money for Greene County cancer patients to help pay for items like medication, wigs, prosthetics and other needs while undergoing cancer treatment. KMC Heart Screenings – September through December Employees are encouraged to proactively manage their heart health and take advantage of screenings provided the Cardiovascular (CVD) Prevention Center (formerly the Cardiac Outreach Program). Registration is required – call 395-8492 to schedule an appointment. Cardiac Calcium Scoring Testing Quick, pain-free and non-invasive, this screening uses a CT scan to detect calcium deposits in coronary arteries before symptoms develop. The calcium score indicates plaque burden and risk for future cardiac events, and is recommended for men between the ages of 40 and 70 and women between the ages of 50 and 70. Call 395-8492 (ext. 58492) to schedule an appointment or for information on additional dates and times. Cost is $99 per person.
Cardiovascular Health Assessment Screening 2 Thickening of an artery provides the earliest detectable evidence of atherosclerosis. New ultrasound imaging test can assess future risk of heart attack by measuring the layers of the carotid artery. Additional test detect plaque in the carotid arteries and checks for peripheral artery disease (PAD). Call for more information on additional dates and times.
