Our Goals Again!
At fourth quarter Town Hall meetings, some KHN leaders provided a musical presentation for employees to report on their department´s achievement of their Key Result Area goals in 2009. Lead by Vice President of Patient Financial Services Larry Zumstein and set to the tune of the Beatles´ song, "I Want to Hold Your Hand," this brave group announced their achievements in song. Congratulations to all the departments who achieved their goals!
Certificate of Appreciation Presented
As a board member of the Dayton Clinical Oncology Program, Dr. Greg Wise, vice president, Medical Affairs, presented a certificate of appreciation from DCOP to Krista Bensman, RN, clinical research coordinator for Kettering Medical Center. Dr. Wise presented the certificate to Krista during the Tumor Board meeting in September.
Terri Brown has been named manager for the Patient Relations Department at Kettering Medical Center. Terri has most recently provided voluntary leadership in her role as a patient relations representative during the search process for department manager. She has participated in change initiatives and demonstrated leadership on various projects. She has been involved in developing and implementing new programs in the department to improve process and customer satisfaction.
Bryan Chandler now serves as manager of Sterile Processing at Grandview. He most recently worked in the KMC Sterile Processing Department as the Materials Management coordinator.
Sherron Dalton, manager for Southview Perioperative areas for the last 16 years, has joined also the Symphony project team as Anesthesia team lead.
Annette Dailey, formerly Medical/Surgical education coordinator, has joined the Kettering Medical Center team as the nursing school liaison within the Nursing Professional Development Department.
Connie Donaldson joins the Grandview nursing executive team as director for Critical Care and Nursing Support Services. Having served as a nursing supervisor at Grandview, she has held positions in nursing management and project management throughout her 29 years as a nurse. With a master´s of science in Nursing from Wright State University, she has also served as an instructor for leadership and management classes at both Wright State University and Indiana Wesleyan University.
Peggy Doyle was recently named nursing director of Greene Memorial Hospital´s Emergency, Trauma, Rehab and Behavioral Health areas. Peggy´s 30 years of nursing experience includes emergency, trauma, behavioral health, substance abuse, and med/surg nursing. She holds a master´s degree in nursing with an emphasis in nursing administration, and has been in various nursing leadership roles for the last 10 years.
Tina Hancock is the new clinical nurse manager for the Grandview Emergency Department. Tina has 23 years of nursing experience with over 10 years of ED clinical experience and eight years of nursing management and supervisory experience. Tina previously served as Grandview liaison manager to area nursing schools. A special thank you is extended to Becky Howard for serving as interim manager while continuing her responsibilities as the ED and ICU nurse manager at Southview.
Cheryl Hart joined the Grandview team as education coordinator for Grandview and Southview Perioperative areas. She has previous OR experience in outpatient surgical centers and PACU as well as in other nursing areas.
Karen Keller joins the Southview leadership team as the manager for Perioperative Services. Karen has been a staff nurse in Southview Surgery and has been a major in the Air Force serving as a Flight 1 team leader working on process improvement and compliance projects. In past years, she worked in the Grandview Emergency Department.
Barb Martindale, KMC Environmental Services, who is a member of the Gold Wing Association´s "Purple Peddlers" tricycle drill team, rode in the 2009 Macy´s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Sponsored by the state of Ohio, the group travels across the U.S. to entertain and proudly represents Ohio. At 69 years of age, Barb says the Macy´s parade route was about 2½ miles in length and the crowd cheered, "Yea, Ohio!" as they rode past.
Verdean McCord, formerly nurse manager for 6100, has chosen to take the Medical/Surgical education coordinator position at Grandview. She has been with Grandview since 2006, serving as 6100 nurse manager since 2007.
Belinda Isaac has been named rehabilitation manager for the new KHN NeuroRehab and Balance Center. Belinda has worked as rehab manager most recently at Grandview, and has also previously served as rehab manager for KMC Rehabilitation Medicine. She is an occupational therapist who has a wealth of experience in program development and rehab management. The NeuroRehab and Balance Center opens January 15, 2010 at Yankee Medical Center on the Southview campus. This new Network program involves integrating clinical experts from Grandview, Southview, Greene, Kettering and Sycamore to provide the most state-of-the-art services in one location.
Greene Rehabilitation Center at Greene Memorial Hospital recently received a three-year accreditation from the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF. A CARF-accredited program shows commitment to continually improving its services and promotes the highest standards of quality. Greene Rehab Center has been serving orthopedic, neurological and other medical conditions since 1989.
Cathy Reichert, previously manager for the Grandview Emergency Department, joined the Symphony (electronic Health Information System) project team for the Network.
