Upcoming EventsDay of Dance – Feb. 28 Living Well With Arthritis: March 4, 11 and 18, 7 – 8:30 p.m., Kettering Medical Center Employees are invited to the three-part series, “Arthritis A to Z.” A Q&A session follows each class. Week 1: Jodi Van Jura, MD: Types of arthritis, treatment options, and pain management. Week 2: Robin Peters, KHN occupational therapist: Methods to improve performance of daily living activities and a demonstration of helpful appliances and gadgets. Week 3: Jennifer Dalton, KHN dietitian: Diet, weight management and other aspects of nutrition that can affect arthritis. Cost is $5 for Years Ahead Plus+ members and $7 for all others. Spring Has Sprung Healthy Families 5K Run/Walk: March 20 This run/walk is sponsored by Greene Memorial Hospital, and held by the Greene County Combined Health District in Xenia to raise funds for the Greene County Health Lifestyles Coalition and promote healthier lifestyle choices. Heart Screenings – March Employees are encouraged to proactively manage their heart health and take advantage of screenings provided the Cardiac Outreach Program. Registration is required – call 395-8492 to schedule an appointment. March 3: Cardiovascular Health Assessment 2, Town & Country Shopping Center, Kettering This includes a series of exams to detect blockages in carotid arteries (neck). It also includes PAD to check for poor circulation in lower extremities, and the new CIMT, providing the earliest detectable evidence of heart disease. An optional aneurysm screening is available to look for silent enlargement of the aorta. March 7: Cardiac Calcium Score, Kettering Medical Center This uses CT scans to detect calcium deposits in coronary arteries BEFORE symptoms develop. This test is fast and non-invasive. Cost: $99 per person. March 10: Cardiovascular Health Assessment 1 Conover Health Center, Franklin This screening provides a snapshot of current blood cholesterol levels and personal cardiovascular risk factors; includes total cholesterol, HDL & LDL, triglyceride and blood glucose levels; and provides an individual risk consultation and cardiovascular health plan. Cost: $21 per person. March 27: Cardiovascular Health Assessment 2, Epiphany Church This includes a series of exams to detect blockages in carotid arteries (neck).
