Symphony Update
Exactly how long does the Symphony (electronic Health Information System) project last? Symphony will run through 2012 in two phases.
Included below is the Phase 1 timeline. Each part of Phase 1 is contained there, with explanations of each below. For more information about the Symphony project, visit the KHN or GMH intranet home pages and click on “eHIS (Symphony).”
Design Phase (Includes Validation & Reengineering and Process Design)
Standardized, Network-wide workflows are developed, evaluated and finalized with employee and physician input and participation.
Build Phase
All workflows within the patient experience are run from beginning to end; customizations for orders, procedures, tests, etc. for our Network and all facilities are developed.
Testing & Training Phase
Tests are performed on the entire system to ensure the system we built works well with Network and department workflows and processes. Role-specific training takes place for all individuals who are “end users.”
Go-Live
Go live is the point at which the actual cutover takes place – moving from the old systems to the new suite of products.
