Grandview Holds Swearing In Ceremony for Police Officers
All hospital personnel were invited to attend the formal swearing in ceremony for the police officers of the Grandview Medical Center Police Department. The ceremony took place in the Ohio University Building Auditorium on Wednesday, February 3. During the ceremony, the Oath of Office was administered by President Richard Haas to the Grandview officers.
Sycamore Glen Resident Meets Marilyn Monroe
One of Miamisburg’s oldest and most respected citizens, Hubert Fields, enjoyed a moment with a Marilyn Monroe impersonator recently at the Sycamore Glen Retirement Center. Pamela Riley, who performs as Marilyn Monroe, along with her husband, Mason Riley, an Elvis impersonator, entertained at the retirement center’s party for January birthdays. Mr. Fields, 103, was a farmer who lived and worked on his land on S.R. 741, located where the LexisNexis Campus and MetLife Insurance buildings now stand.
Barbara Naill, transcription coordinator for Health Information Management at GMH, has passed her exam to become a Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR).
Francis “Fran” Howarth, inventory clerk/room service, in the GMH Nutrition Services Department, received her massage therapy certification after completing a two-year, full-time program. She is a certified body worker. This summer, she plans to become a licensed massage therapist. She has been with GMH for seven years. She plans to continue on at GMH while doing massage therapy in her spare time.
David Miller was recently named director (chief) of Security/Police Services for the Grandview Medical Center System. He brings 35 years of varied law enforcement and safety experience to this position and has served the past six years as captain/manager for Security/Police Services at Grandview and Southview. He played a key role this past year in establishing the department as a Commissioned Police Department in the State of Ohio, the first of its kind in the greater Dayton area. Since last October, David has served as acting director for the department.
Michael Molchan has been promoted to manager (police captain) of the Police/Security Department of the Grandview Medical Center System. Michael has been the acting manager since October 2009. He previously served as evening shift supervisor for three years. Captain Molchan holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ohio State University, with a minor in Political Science. He is a fully certified police officer in the State of Ohio, and holds an instructor certificate from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council to teach and recertify officers in firearms.
Michelle Alexander is the new manager of Physical Medicine and Rehab at Southview Medical Center. She has a master’s in Speech Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University, and has worked as a speech therapist for 19 years, most recently at Grandview. Michelle also was the coordinator of Rehabilitation Services for Kettering Network Home Care for nine years.
Todd Lawrence has been named the new manager of Physical Medicine and Rehab at Grandview Medical Center. Todd has a master’s in Physical Therapy from Andrews University and a bachelor’s in Business Administration/Computer Information Systems from Southern College. Todd has worked as a physical therapist for 13 years, most recently at Grandview. Todd also has been a senior therapist for the past nine years
Dan Haibach has been named director of Network Operations and Contracting. In this position, he has operational responsibility for all physician practices within Advanced Medical Group (AMG) and Alliance Physicians Inc. (API). Dan will also have responsibility for physician partnership and managed care contracting within our integrated physician network.
Karen Mitchum is the new director of Revenue Cycle and Information Systems. Karen will be responsible for all revenue cycle components to include the current API internal billing and collections department, outsourced billing service providers, coding, credentialing, and all related functions. In addition, she serves as the lead person as it pertains to the EPIC project and therefore will be working closely with Dan and our operations team to develop the implementation plan for EPIC.
Materials Management operations have been restructured to better meet the goals for efficient delivery of quality products and services: Vickie Cornick, manager of Materials Distribution at KMC and also responsible for the Receiving Department; Cherie Leggett, manager of Materials Distribution at Sycamore; La Renda Cochran, manager of Materials Distribution at Grandview; Kevin Freiberger, manager of Materials Distribution at Southview; Patrick Bernard, Jr., inventory specialist at Grandview; and Joanie Osborne, inventory specialist at Sycamore.
Susie Peil, data analyst, Clinical Decision Support, has accepted the lead role for KHN in the development of the EPIC Measures. This role is critically important as these measures and their definition will insure that KHN is poised to continue the demonstration of the excellent care delivered to our patients by our staff every day.
