 Medical Director
Douglas Einstein, M.D., PhD, Medical Director, Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Einstein has extensive experience in the radiotherapeutic treatment of cancer using a wide variety of state-of-the-art modalities including: Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Cyberknife and Tomotherapy Extracranial radiosurgery, Image-Guided Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IGRT/IMRT), Low and High Dose Rate brachytherapy including Mammosite.
He earned his MD and PhD degrees from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York as part of the prestigious National Institute of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. He came to KMC from the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cleveland where he was vice chairman and clinical director of the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Einstein has been honored by election to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honorary, and was recently elected to the Consumers’ Guide to Top Doctors (2009). He has authored numerous publications and book chapters, and is an invited lecturer and course leader for various national societies.
 Radiation Oncologist
Louis C. Keiler III, M.D., Board Certified Radiation Oncologist. Dr. Keiler earned an M.D. from University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, Chicago, IL and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He joined KMC from Chesapeake Potomac Regional Cancer Center after having served as Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology, at University Hospitals/Case Western, Cleveland, OH where he previously worked with Dr. Douglas Einstein, KMC Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. Their collaborations grew based on mutual clinical passions in prostate image guided and modulated treatments and in functional radiosurgery for CNS disorders.
Dr. Keiler is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Biomedical Engineering Honor Society. While at Chesapeake Potomac Cancer Center, Dr. Keiler helped launch a high dose rate brachytherapy program for breast and gynecologic cancers.
 Clinical Nurse Specialist
Rae Norrod, MS, RN, AOCN®, CNS is the clinical nurse specialist for Cancer Services at Kettering Medical Center.
She has more than 20 years' experience in cancer care, including staff nurse, charge nurse and staff educator positions at Kettering Medical Center, Clinical Instructor for Kettering College of Medical Arts, and Cancer Clinical Trials Research Nurse for the Dayton Clinical Oncology Program. She is available to assist patients and families as well as healthcare professionals and the public with questions about cancer, treatments, and support groups or other resources.  Breast Health Navigator / Breast Care Coordinator
Sharon Kershner, MS, RN, Certified Breast Health Navigator / Breast Care Coordinator. Specializing in breast cancer, Sharon is available to assist patients and their families navigate the sometimes overwhelming road to recovery, providing individualized breast cancer education and support. She is a graduate of the MVH School of Nursing, Andrews University, and Walden University, with over 30 years of expertise in the care of individuals with cancer. As co-facilitator and instructor of the Kettering Health Network breast cancer support groups and education classes, further support and education is provided to individuals newly diagnosed with breast cancer and those who are long term survivors.  Breast Health Navigator / Breast Care Coordinator
Karen Pelfrey, MS, RN, OCN, CHPN Certified Breast Health Navigator is a Breast Care Coordinator for KHN’s Cancer Services Department. She is available to provide education and support to anyone who has received a breast cancer diagnosis or would like information about breast health. She is a graduate of Kettering College of Medical Arts, Andrews University, and Walden University, with over 18 years of oncology experience including 15 years on a medical-oncology floor and experience as the Oncology Outreach Coordinator with a focus on prevention and early detection of cancer.
She is a co-facilitator for SOAR, KHN’s support group for breast cancer survivors and co-instructor for the Navigating the Breast Cancer Journey classes. Karen can be reached at

 Community Outreach Coordinator
Tammy Fanz, BSN, RN, OCN. is the Community Outreach Coordinator for KMC's Cancer Services.
Tammy has 8 years of experience in cancer care including positions as staff nurse, pediatric oncology research coordinator, and as a Clinical Trials Research nurse for the Dayton Clinical Oncology Program (DCOP). She received the DCOP nurse of the year award in 2005. Tammy also is a facilitator for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Support Group at KMC. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and holds a national certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse.
