Kettering Medical Center offers Mammosite, a 5-day radiation treatment, as an alternative to traditional35 day radiation therapy for breast cancer. It delivers high dose of radiation directly to where a cancerous breast tumor was removed.

Mammosite is not for everyone with breast cancer. It is appropriate for some of those with early-stage breast cancer that is confined to the breast. However, few women who are good candidates for this new therapy receive it because of lack of awareness among the public and some physicians.
